On the side of the Road
directed by Mark Lawes, 2009 and 2010 in collaboration with the RCA, Resident Company of Artists. Theatre Grand, Calgary and The Harbourfront Toronto, Canada.
Calgary Herald gave the show 4 stars, calling it "a smart, big hearted, sexy, strange, hallucinatory, Franco Western Canadian piece of cottage country mythology".
In an unbridled pop-hybrid, this multidisciplinary event created and performed by Theatre Junction’s Resident Company of Artists, opens a door on a playful and moving new aesthetic, drawing the human fresco with a living and unique sensitivity. Busuttil played the role of Lola, the white trash, whip cracking lover of Bill the trucker. Lola represented the ability of transformation and re-invention throughout the story. Her presence was as much mystical as it was physical.
On the Side of the Road, premiered in Calgary in March 2009, and toured to Toronto Canada as part of the World Stage theatre festival in 2010.
