Hell on Earth

Hebbel Theatre, Berlin, Germany, 2007
Following the production “Scratch Neukölln” at HAU1 Berlin in 2003, Constanza Macras/Dorky Park offers the now teenagers from Neukölln another stage in “Hell on Earth”. They tell stories from their life experiences, not from a children’s perspective, but rather from a young adult’s point of view about the hopes and troubles of becoming adults. They speak about how they endure discrimination and of their trials regarding social adaptation.

Gender identity: concepts of the body and gender are the main themes in this production. Thus the question, how do immigrant teenagers cope with the “Hell on Earth” situation that affords them room to thrive and express themselves as individuals?
